After teaching a corporate yoga class last week, an employee walked into the room. One of the students asked if he was going to join yoga. He replied, "I'm not flexible enough to do yoga". Most people are not very flexible when they begin yoga - that is one reason among many why they try yoga - to improve their flexibility. I enjoy hearing the stories of what brought people to yoga - to increase flexibility, quiet the mind, soft pretzel and world peace :-) If you do yoga now, why did you start?
If you have done yoga for some time, why do you keep going back? Is the reason the same as when you first started?
If you don't do yoga (and would like to), what is holding you back? Are YOU not flexible enough?

Hmm, one of life's great friends of mine told me about yoga when I was pregnant and I went to a pregnancy yoga class held by another great teacher. I went too for back pain during pregnancy. I wanted to be strong and flexible and learn breathing that would help me deliver. I resort to yoga in thought sometimes more than I physically practice it. I am constantly learning! Constantly craving it. Do you know who this teacher is?

When I started yoga many years ago, I just focused on the physical perspective of it. I actually didn't really understand that there was more to it outside of doing poses. Now, it still amazes me how multi-faceted yoga really can be.
