Truth Within The Soul

What brought you to yoga?
After teaching a corporate yoga class last week, an employee walked into the room. One of the students asked if he was going to join yoga. He replied, "I'm not flexible enough to do yoga". Most people are not very flexible when they begin yoga - that is one reason among many why they try yoga - to improve their flexibility. Then after a little while they experience many of the other benefits of yoga."I tried yoga once but took off for the mall halfway through class, as I had a sudden craving for a soft pretzel and world peace." ~The Quote Garden
I enjoy hearing the stories of what brought people to yoga - to increase flexibility, quiet the mind, soft pretzel and world peace :-) If you do yoga now, why did you start?
If you have done yoga for some time, why do you keep going back? Is the reason the same as when you first started?
If you don't do yoga (and would like to), what is holding you back? Are YOU not flexible enough?

Do Some Yoga In Costa Rica
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” - Mark Twain
"...and do some yoga!" ~ Karen
Yippee, only 93 days (but who's counting?) until we board that plane for the Yoga Retreat in Costa Rica. So far I have purchased 4 new bikinis and 3 new yoga tops for the adventure. I am looking at a new travel yoga mat from Hugger Mugger - I think that will be a smart purchase since I will only have so much suitcase room - 4 bikinis do take up some space :-) I can't decide between the green mat or the blue one. Decisions, decisions.Want to Explore, Dream and Discover? Join us in Costa Rica - the more, the merrier!

It Happened...

"Life begins at forty."~ W B Pitkin
The big day came and it was bigger and better than anything I could have ever imagined thanks to my friends. They are kind, compassionate, silly, thoughtful, fun, and ALL SNEAKY! I was kidnapped from my house and spent a wonderful day shopping, movie watching, eating and entertaining them all because I had no idea what the heck was going on.
They giggled, they whispered, they conspired and passed notes under the lunch table. I loved every minute of it.
SAS sent birthday wishes via her blog featuring granola (my favorite recipe - hers) and raspberries (grown in her garden). Thank you my wonderful friend!
The cute, fingerless gloves above are from blog-less Gina in PA (get a blog girl!). I love, love, love them and you too!
So many CARDS!
And this special Birthday Wish from 3 little cutie-pies (warning, plug your ears toward the end):
May your next big one be as special as mine.

Thank you to all my wonderful friends near and far - I love you all!

Autumn Yoga
This morning started with rain drops. What a wonderful way to wake up. The rain let up. Little doggie girl dawned her harness and I, my rain coat. Opening up the front door to the beautiful colors of autumn, we stepped outside. We walked down the street with the scent of the fresh, wet, cool morning air. "I love autumn," I thought to myself. As we came upon the cedar bridge behind the house, a pheasant was walking towards us. He saw a person and a beagle, turned around, ran the other way and then took off making that sound that only pheasants make.
The wind was blowing just enough to coax the yellow, red and orange leaves into a beautiful shower of color. Little doggie girl's nose is to the ground, sniffing the trail of the last animal that walked in our foot steps. The smell of the cedar bridge is strong and so calming.
I was lost in the beauty of it all and it was delicious.
It has inspired me. I want this experience on my yoga mat. What poses will allow me to create this? I know it is possible. What a fun adventure it will be.

29 Gifts
"The best way to attract abundance into your own life is to be in a perpetual state of giving and gratitude." ~ 29 Gifts
Marya told me about this site, 29 Gifts, where you sign up and commit to giving away 29 things in 29 days. It can be anything from a smile to a new car. And another great thing about giving - it helps to raise your vibration. We all like that!
If you do sign up, be sure to add me as a friend :-)
Peace,
Karen
